A Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small business, Wraith Metalworks was founded in 2020 first as a self-made think tank for tackling suppressor-related innovation. In early 2025, after years of multi-faceted problem solving, they entered full-scale R&D. By August of 2025, Wraith suppressors placed 1st, 2nd, and 5th at TBAC Suppressor Summit in the “ML” (Muzzle Left) category, out of 141 different 5.56 suppressors tested. Their focus on dynamic problem solving and rapid iteration—built around additive manufacturing—allows the Wraith team to re-optimize designs or solve end-user-specific suppression problems with functional testing in a matter of days, instead of months or years.Their system-forward approach…

An ambi safety can add a lot of functionality to your AR-15. Here we take a look at Aero Precision’s PRO model. The problem with most AR-15 ambidextrous safeties is the tiny little screws holding them together. The even tinier Allen wrenches meant to tighten them are one moment’s oversight from bending to uselessness. On a personal note, the wings of ambi safeties tend to be too big for me, and the offside one interferes with my trigger finger. But that’s my problem. Yours, and ours, is assemblage. Well, Aero has solved the problem. The M4E1 Pro ambi safety selector kit comes with…

FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. — Pennsylvania National Guard Soldiers and civilian employees participated in an Artificial Intelligence 201 course Feb. 11–12. The course, taught by U.S. Army War College faculty, aimed to prepare leaders to responsibly integrate artificial intelligence into military decision-making while reinforcing critical thinking and mission command principles. “A lot of people find it very scary, and just like with any new technology, we should be cautious,” said Lt. Col. Kelly Ihme, an assistant professor at the U.S. Army War College and one of the course’s instructors. “Trust but verify. But this is a computer program. It’s predictive…

By Richard Johnson Posted in #History American self-propelled artillery in World War II transformed how the United States Army delivered firepower on the battlefield. These tracked vehicles combined mobility with devastating howitzers and guns, keeping pace with advancing armor divisions in ways towed artillery never could. From the M7 Priest’s 105mm howitzer to the massive M43’s 8-inch gun, these weapons shaped combat operations across North Africa, Europe, and the Pacific. The story starts with improvisation. When Germany blitzed through France in 1940, American planners saw they needed artillery that could move fast and hit hard. Self-propelled guns…

Creativity is often described as imagination, inspiration, or artistic expression. In professional fields especially those tied to real-world consequences like tactical operations, engineering, or business creativity is something far more practical.  It is the disciplined art of making the possible real. You start with a vision > You have the initiative to try > Now comes the hard part. The Foundations of Practical Creativity. Real creativity is not spontaneous. It is built on layers of competence and understanding. Before a solution can exist, certain conditions must be met. You must have: • Knowledge of the subject. • Experience to understand…

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) has designed and developed the Drone Killer Cartridge (DKC), a new and cost-effective family of ammunition for the warfighter that increases probability of hit and kill against drone threats while inherently reducing collateral damage. “We’re enabling extended range, shotgun-style effects through automatic rifles and machine guns with nothing more than an ammunition change,” said Brian Hoffman, Man-Portable Weapons Chief Engineer at NSWC Crane. DKC is an ammunition technology that disperses a cluster of projectiles upon firing—for rifles, automatic rifles, and machine guns—with far greater range than a conventional shotgun. These effects increase…

For the last few years, the Benchmade Bugout has been the top-selling EDC (everyday carry) folding knife. Yet I have a love-hate relationship with the Bugout. The standard version does fine for light to medium duty, but doesn’t hold up to the demands that most of us put on our knives. But its continued success can’t be ignored. Other brands have released visually and functionally similar knives with their own spin on it. CRKT’s Counterpart is the latest, and it comes from esteemed knifemaker Ken Onion. And because it costs under $100, my interest was distinctly piqued. What sacrifices did…

The avalanche that killed at least eight skiers this week was one of the deadliest backcountry incidents in U.S. history. Four guides were traveling with 11 clients, returning from a hut trip near Frog Lake, when a gigantic slab released from an adjacent mountainside and buried them. Six were rescued, two of whom were rushed to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Eight were later confirmed dead, and one remains missing. There have been no updates since Nevada County Sheriff Shannan Moon briefed the public in a news conference on Wednesday. However, the entire area of the Tahoe National Forest near…

Wader prices are way out of hand. After wearing holes in my old neoprene and breathable waders, I went on the hunt for a new pair. I’d experienced the comfort of breathable waders and knew that’s what I wanted my next pair to be, until I saw the price.  $1,000+ for waders that I plan to abuse by busting ice, braving frigid temperatures, and sitting in beaver-staub-infested areas just seemed unreasonable. So, when I saw that the Duck Camp Zip Waders were $850, I was intrigued. I received the Duck Camp Zip Waders at the beginning of the Oklahoma duck…
