Texas Parks and Wildlife Department customers may want to check their accounts and lock down their credit after a breach tied to the agency’s hunting and fishing license system. TPWD said Texas Cyber Command detected the breach, which involved the third-party vendor that handles hunting and fishing license sales for the department. More than 3 million customers may have had personal information exposed. The Breach The breach involved TPWD’s license sales system vendor, not an internal TPWD system, according to the department. TPWD said an unauthorized actor may have accessed customer profile information connected to hunting and fishing license purchases.…
Sleeping bag insulation typically comes in two forms: down or synthetic — each with its own advantages. Both, however, are static insulators, meaning they don’t adapt to changing temperatures. Recently, Graphene-X launched a new sleeping bag on Kickstarter that uses “Weather Adaptive Insulation” (WAI), which it claims can “think for itself” and acclimatize to warmer or cooler temperatures. The technology has already won the brand an ISPO award for its insulated jackets — now, it’s applying it to the Tardigrade Sleeping Bag. Beyond the insulation, the Graphene-X Tardigrade Sleeping Bag offers several other convenient design features. It comes in two temperature ranges…

When the midday heat hits, my first instinct is to ditch my long sleeves — but my sunburn-prone skin won’t allow it. That tension is exactly what made the Outdoor Research Echo Hoodie ($79) so impressive. I tested it over a full year, from standup paddleboarding the Snake River and spring ski tours in the Tetons to bear-viewing trips in Alaska. Plenty of sun hoodies protect well. Fewer feel this light, soft, and easy to leave on all day. The Echo isn’t the burliest or most protective shirt I’ve tested. It still became my top choice for moving hard, sweating…
Written By Sean Murphy and David Lane BEST PRECISION RIFLE SUPPORT BAG Rear bags for long-range shooting have become a must-have to help deliver hits down range. A rear bag is a low-tech and relatively low-cost solution that offers many benefits to precision rifle shooters — mainly the ability to stabilize the rear of the rifle, leading to greater accuracy and precision. While shooting bags come in many shapes and sizes, they all cushion either the rear of the rifle or under the forend, filling the space between the stock and ground or obstacle. Instead of having to hold and…

By Greg Frebourg Posted in #Guns In this article, Greg Frebourg reviews the Springfield Ronin EMP 9mm pistol. The handgun was loaned to the author by the company for this article. If it quacks like a duck, floats, walks and looks like a duck, well, it is a duck. That common sense saying might be full of wisdom, but it falls short as soon as anyone asks: “what kind of duck?”. Yes indeed, there are many kinds of ducks, and for most people, their differences are anecdotal and only feather deep. In some cases, looking like a…

A Soldier steps off the vehicle at first light. The rifle hangs across his chest as he checks equipment, adjusts his ruck, and moves into formation. Hours later, the rifle is still there. Through movement, briefings, security halts, vehicle operations, and countless tasks that have nothing to do with pulling a trigger, the weapon remains attached to him. Most of the time, a rifle is not being fired. It’s being carried. Photo by Army National Guard SGT Lianne M. Hirano Whether during military operations, law enforcement duties, training classes, or long days on the range, the same reality applies. The…
