  • Paul Knight, 36, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife Isobella “Izzy” Knight on June 13, 2025
  • Knight pleaded guilty to the killing in early January 2026
  • He will serve at least 17 years behind bars

A man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife at their home in England.

Paul Knight, 36, was accused of strangling his wife Isobella “Izzy” Knight on June 13, 2025, while his two daughters were asleep upstairs in the home on Donnington Road in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, according to a police press release.

“You lost your temper and, in a fit of rage, killed Isobella Knight,” said Judge Adrienne Lucking during sentencing, the BBC reported. “No sentence that I can pass can compensate or comfort your children or the family of Isobella Knight.”

The motive for the slaying was not clear, “other than that [Knight] exploded in anger whilst under the influence of a significant amount of cocaine,” Prosecutor Pavlos Panayi said at the hearing, per the outlet.

After the murder, Knight allegedly tried to kill himself at the home before crashing his car in a McDonald’s parking lot.

“The police officers who responded to the collision found his behavior odd and made the decision to search his home address,” according to the press release. “That’s when they sadly found Izzy’s body.”

Inside the home, police allegedly also found a suicide note that read: “If you’re reading this, I have killed myself and Izzy. I really didn’t mean to kill her. I am truly sorry but it’s due to having an addiction to cocaine and spending money I don’t have,” the release states.

Knight pleaded guilty at Northampton Crown Court on Jan. 8, 2026.

He was sentenced on Jan. 29 to life imprisonment and will serve at least 17 years behind bars.

Izzy’s mother Helena described her daughter as a “loving mother, a treasured daughter, a best friend in sister form, a talented artist, and a great friend.”

“She laughed, she cried, she worked tirelessly to provide for her children, she had dreams, and she loved hard,” she said, per a separate press release issued by the Northamptonshire police after Knight pleaded guilty.

“No sentence will ever make up for the loss of such a wonderful woman, but I am pleased that Paul Knight has been jailed with no hope of release until he is in his 50s,” Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Torie Harrison from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime Team said, according to the release.

“This is an absolutely tragic case of violence against a woman who had so many good things ahead of her,” Harrison said. “She was an amazing mum, much-loved by her family and friends, and did everything she could to live life to its fullest. Her life has been cut short in the most dreadful and unfair circumstances, and my thoughts will remain with everyone who loved her for a long time to come.”
