Beretta has just announced the official release of the newest family member of the rapidly growing 80X line. The new 80X Cheetah Tactical Special Edition is a dual-tone update to its compact .380 ACP SA/DA pistol that is intended as a dressed-up, yet more competition/tactical-friendly variation of the already popular modern 80X.

The model pairs a black slide, barrel, grips, and magazine base pad with a bronze anodized aluminum frame, black G10 grip panels, a fiber-optic front sight, a blacked-out serrated rear sight, and a two-slot Picatinny rail. The barrel is threaded ½”-28 and comes with a single-port compensator mounted at the factory.

If it’s anything like the 80X tactical I was able to shoot at SHOT Show 2026, the low-profile .380 already runs flat and fast without a compensator, and now we’ve got a factory solution that supposedly adds even more control. The pistol, of course, includes the same DA/SA trigger that made the 80 series popular while delivering everything needed to satisfy all of your modern handgun tinkering needs (pic rail, optics, etc.).

Kind of their bread and butter, Beretta’s 90 and 80 series of aluminum-frame pistols, the Tactical Special Edition Cheetah is a somewhat targeted release at existing fans of the legacy Cheetah, but also those who might see some value in the modernized variant as a home and self-defense pistol. Being somewhat of a higher-end firearm company, I could also see this gun being a popular shootable collectible item for fans of the Beretta brand. It builds directly on the existing 80X Cheetah Tactical models by throwing in the bronze accent, G10 texture, fiber optic sight, and included compensator, and it all has arrived just in time to ring in Beretta’s 500th anniversary.

Three 15-round magazines with +2 base pads are included, along with front and rear slide serrations, red dot-ready slide, frame safety, and adjustable reset. On the ergonomics side, the company adds that the already optimal 80X ergonomics has been improved with black G10 grip panels that ensure a solid grip even in harsh conditions.

The official Beretta Product catalog for the new Cheetah notes that the Tactical Special Edition comes in a dual-tone look with a black slide, barrel, grips, and magazine base pad enriched with a bronze anodized frame. The MSRP is €1,099 (roughly ~$1,289 USD) with availability starting in June 2026. As Beretta gears up for its 500th anniversary celebrations throughout 2026, this special edition is one more sign the Cheetah revival is far from over.
