A young New Jersey woman is facing criminal charges after being accused of stabbing her 2-year-old brother in the chest.
On Saturday, Nov. 1, at about 2:30 p.m., police in Brick Township who responded to a 911 call for help found a 2-year-old boy suffering from a stab wound to the chest, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office announced in a statement.
The boy was rushed to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Police later arrested the boy’s sister Marlene Rodriguez, 20, of Brick Township, per the prosecutor’s office.
Rodriguez was taken to the Ocean County jail, where she remains held on no bail, according to online jail records.

She is charged with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and endangering the welfare of a child.
It is unclear whether she has retained an attorney who can speak on her behalf.
