Springfield Armory now has longer-barrel Model 2020 Heatseeker variants with either 20- or 22-inch barrels. The Model 2020 Heatseeker was originally launched with a 16-inch barrel and is a chassis-based rifle that combines bolt-action precision with AR-style modularity.

These new bolt-action rifles feature a rugged Coyote Brown Cerakote finish and are available in .308 Win. or 6.5 Creedmoor. The .308 Win. version is a 20-inch model, while the 6.5 Creedmoor versions are offered in either 20- or 22-inch models.

All Heatseekers feature a Sharps Bros. Heatseeker chassis machined from a solid block of 6061-T6 billet aluminum for strength. The chassis weighs 1 pound, 3 ounces and includes a 14-inch free-float handguard that weighs 10 ounces. M-Lok slots are located on all four sides of the handguard, with dual QD sling mounts on each side.

In addition, the chassis is designed with AR-style features for maximum modularity. There is a buffer-tube extension for mounting AR-pattern stocks and it is designed to accept AR-pattern pistol grips. The Model 2020 Heatseeker comes with a B5 Systems Collapsible Precision Stock (CPS) that is adjustable for both length-of-pull and cheek height and a matching CPS adjustable cheek piece along with a B5 Systems P-Grip 23 grip.

Springfield’s Model 2020 stainless steel action has dual locking lugs and a fluted bolt and EDM raceways. Mated to the action are freefloat, carbon-fiber-wrapped barrels with muzzles threaded ⅝x24 tpi and featuring thread-protector muzzle caps. A TriggerTech Field Trigger adjustable for a pull weight from 2.5 to 5 pounds and a metal, five-round AICS-pattern magazine round out each rifle.

“The 16-inch Model 2020 Heatseeker bolt-action rifle’s combination of compact dimensions with modular adaptability and uncompromising performance made it an instantaneous hit,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “These new Model 2020 Heatseekers add a new dimension to the line, extending the design’s already capable performance envelope even farther.”

MSRP for these new Model 2020 Heatseeker rifles is $2,355, and more information on these firearms or other products from Springfield Armory is available at springfield-armory.com.
