The exponential increases in consumer tech — most notably in portable power stations and energy storage — will never cease to amaze me. This summer, I’ve been navigating the newness of homeownership, along with all the improvement projects (and power outages) that come with it.
And for more than 2 months now, I’ve relied on the new Anker SOLIX S2000 for entire circuits around the home, along with weekend-long camping trips. For a 2kWh power station, it’s wickedly small, light, and well up to the task.
At around 35 pounds and about the countertop real estate of a coffee maker, the S2000 is far more compact than the brand’s SOLIX F2000 — a station almost twice the weight — and is well-suited for the type of home backup most folks actually need: something to get them through the occasional outage.
Here’s what I learned about the SOLIX S2000 in my testing so far.

Anker SOLIX S2000 Review
At 2kWh, the SOLIX S2000 is aimed at folks who need a power supply for running home essentials for a handful of days. The 2,010Wh, 1,500W station stacks up well beside options like the Jackery Explorer 2000 V2, Ecoflow Delta 2 Max, and the brand’s own SOLIX C2000 Gen 2.
The S2000 also makes a few big claims on its own behalf: namely that it is both the longest-lasting 2kWh portable power station (compared to other comparable mainstream units available), as well as the smallest and lightest 2kWh unit.
The longevity claim revolves around the almost 39-hour refrigerator backup time, which is the angle the S2000 is certainly aimed at. It accomplishes this by saving power where it counts — namely, in idle power (where AC ports are typically still running and consuming 15-20 W) and in a continuous output of 1,500 W, which is enough to power most appliances, but not many at once.
When Active Idle Power Matters

Portable power stations that are used in a home backup capacity don’t just sit there at max capacity. They slowly drain whenever the output ports are active, which can leak as much as 15-20 W.
For most people, the refrigerator is one of the most important appliances to keep running during a power outage, and whenever the internal compressor cycles off, most power stations are still draining power. The S2000 side-steps this by dropping the active idle power to just 6 W when not in use.
Folks who use power stations as uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) or take advantage of Time-of-Use charging to save on power costs also will appreciate a low active-idle power.
In-House Fridge Backup Test

While Anker has well-documented the S2000’s ability to keep a fridge running for up to 35 hours, I wanted to see for myself. With my Samsung refrigerator/freezer set to the standard 37°/-2° split, I plugged in the S2000 and set out to see if it could handle not only maintaining temperature, but also the losses that accompany everyday usage.
Day 1 went by without a hiccup, and the S2000 sat at around 62% capacity by the end of the evening after 12 full hours of active family duty — including the usual dinner-prep door swings and late-night snack raids. By the time the battery finally hit 0%, the unit had clocked 34 hours and 15 minutes of continuous operation. What makes that result impressive isn’t just the raw 2,010Wh capacity; it’s how the S2000 handles compressor downtime.
Anker’s OptiSave feature drops active idle draw down to roughly 6W, meaning that when the fridge compressor wasn’t actively running, standby energy loss was practically nonexistent. In real-world, non-laboratory conditions with real family usage, holding up within ~10% of manufacturer claims is a win.
High-Draw Challenge

Even though the S2000 isn’t ideal for running high-draw appliances, I still leaned on it to assist in my home improvement projects recently. This ranged from plugging in large site lighting to illuminate dark rooms to more challenging power tool use with high peak wattages.
Surprisingly, the power station shouldered almost anything I threw at it, including corded routers and shop vacuums. The rated 1,500W and 3,000 W peak capacity of the unit is a little shy of the numbers that other 2kWh stations will put up, but it’s important to remember that the S2000 is styled for longevity and not brute force.
The S2000 drew the line at a portable planer, which is rated at a continuous draw of ~1,800 W (and a startup surge need of ~2,500 W). While the power station could shoulder the startup, it couldn’t handle the strain of planing down lumber; it tripped the internal breaker and produced an Overload Warning on the LCD. A simple press of the AC Output button got the unit back up again quickly.
Camping Crossover

While the S2000 is billed as a home backup unit, I also took it camping to get a good feel for how well the station operates in a crossover capacity. Being a good bit more compact than similarly specced options out there, this meant carrying more kWh into the woods for the same space and weight.
Power draw when off-grid camping typically isn’t the most demanding and commonly consists of charging a few phones, running some camping string lights, and, at most, keeping an electric cooler running. In this capacity, the S2000 barely breaks a sweat, and only discharged to 82% across an entire weekend of camping.
I will note that the S2000 isn’t entirely primed for the rigors of consistent outdoor use. The case lacks any rubberized bumpers to soak up accidental bumps in the back of a camping rig, none of the external ports host any dust covers, and the solar input is 400 W — a figure that is doubled in the brand’s camp-angled unit, the SOLIX C2000 Gen 2.
An Ergonomics Annoyance

The tall and sleek profile of the S2000 is tough to fault, but there is one thing to be aware of, and that’s how it impacts the handle ergos. Tucked up under the cap of the power station are two 1-inch–deep recesses that allow you to port it around — so long as you don’t have to go single-handed.
If that’s the case, you’d better be a decent rock climber, as the grip needed is more than most folks will be able to hang onto the 36-pound unit. This can make handling the unit a bit awkward if you need to, say, open a door while carrying it.
Who Is the Anker SOLIX S2000 For?

If you’re looking for a portable power solution that will stand at the ready for the occasional outage at home, the SOLIX S2000 is one of the best solutions currently available. It is tailor-made to live on your kitchen counter when the grid goes down and will keep your essential appliances running until it returns.
The size of the unit and longevity are certainly noteworthy, and compared to other specced units, it’s tough to find reason to suggest going elsewhere. That said, there is one specification to pay attention to, and that’s the output wattages.
The S2000 is intentionally designed to prioritize efficiency, runtime, and portability over raw power throughput. With continuous AC output capped at 1,500W, it isn’t built to run multiple heavy-draw appliances simultaneously.
That trade-off, however, is a feature rather than a drawback. By focusing on efficiency rather than output, Anker minimized idle power consumption to just 6W and squeezed 2,010Wh of capacity into a compact 35.7-pound frame — about 30% smaller and lighter than typical 2kWh power stations. The result is exceptional runtime for everyday blackouts, and an emergency setup engineered to perform for over a decade.
