A hefty number of limited editions are arriving from We Knife Co. right now, including both returning pieces and brand new models. Today’s subject, the Hull, falls into the latter category, and turns in big knife performance with a cool retro military aesthetic. The Hull is an interesting mix of design elements. First, there are the military and tactical characteristics. Its drop point blade is 3.89 inches long – a hefty piece of super steel to be sure, allowing it to land in the center of the large EDC-tactical knife-hard use work knife Venn diagram. The tapering handle looks like…

Of all 50 states, Texas has one of the most distinct identities. From cowboys and western wear to rodeos, ranches, and pickup trucks, these are all things associated with the Lone Star State. As a decade-long backpacker, I used to scoff at the idea of bringing a chair with me. Why on earth would you add so much weight to your pack for an entirely unnecessary item? (Just sit on the ground!) But on a backpacking trip in Washington that involved long miles, I felt a severe pang of jealousy when I watched a friend set up her Helinox chair at camp. Most SUVs, crossovers, and light trucks spend most of their time on pavement, despite what we see in advertisements or social media. But sometimes those of us who enjoy the great outdoors need more traction than a highway tire can provide. This is where BFGoodrich has aimed with its new Trail-Terrain T/A+. It’s a more capable tire than your vehicle’s highway-centric rubber, but not as aggressive off-road or as durable as a full-blown all-terrain or mud-terrain tire, such as BFGoodrich’s KO3 or KM3. Most buyers don’t need the level of off-road performance or durability that all-terrain or mud-terrain tires provide,…

A flesh-eating parasite is back in U.S. animals, and federal agencies are asking people who spend time around livestock, pets, and wildlife to watch for suspicious wounds. There was a time, back when Baby Boomers were just learning to drive, that midsize pickups dominated the American truck market. They were cheap, versatile, and plentiful, models like Ford Ranger, Chevrolet S-10, and Toyota Hilux collectively generating 1.4 million annual sales at their peak. By the turn of the millennium, demand flip-flopped, and most manufacturers dropped out of the market. The one constant, then and now? The Toyota Tacoma. Even with an assortment of new competitors,…
