Major revisions to the Endangered Species Act (ESA), a hallmark law of American conservation, were set to go before Congress for a vote this week. The bill would have changed the listing process for imperiled species and weakened several other aspects of the law. After major outcry from lawmakers and conservation nonprofits, House Speaker Mike Johnson unexpectedly pulled the bill from the floor. The Bill The ESA, passed in 1973, helps protect endangered or threatened species. Essentially, if a fish, wildlife, or plant is listed, its habitat is protected, and government agencies have to come up with recovery plans to…
GForce Arms of Reno, Nevada, has certainly made a big splash by importing different firearms made in Turkey, but with tariff instabilities the importer from the Biggest Little City in the World is switching their sights to domestically produced firearms. This one is the GForce Jawbone. GForce famously uses Biblical nomenclature (see our article on the Rapture and the Exodus) but “Jawbone” sounds more like a Bluetooth earpiece offering. Yet if you turn to Judges 15:15, you’ll find Sampson: “And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand and took it, and slew a thousand…
By Clayton Walker Posted in #Guns The 1911 has now been with us for a century and a decade. Throughout that lifespan, there’s been no point at which it was not beloved by huge numbers of soldiers, law enforcement agents, and civilian shooters. Astonishingly, perhaps implausibly, the 1911 remains a darling of serious pistoleros: attend any defensive pistol course, and one will find it in the holsters of students and instructors alike. The reason is not hard to ascertain. Most of the 1911’s design elements persist into the modern era due to indisputable merit. Its grip angle works…
Idaho Falls based TOPS Knives has ventured beyond the high desert outdoors and into a considerably less arid environment. They are releasing a pair of new dive knives, available now. The Snake River Rescue is more a SCUBA knife. Fully serrated top edge, tank tapper on the pommel, again with large handles with tread for a solid grip. Mauna Kea in Hawaii is a 14,000-foot peak, and it presents a massive challenge for cyclists who want to ride to its top. It is the longest gravel bike climb in the world, ascending 14,000 feet over 50-55 miles on roads, dirt, gravel, and volcanic ash. Professional cyclist Hannah Otto decided she wasn’t just going to summit the peak on her bike — she was going to do it faster than anyone else ever had. So, at the end of a long, busy, and very successful biking season, she packed her bags (and all of her bikes) and headed for Hawaii.…
There are objects we own, and others that, through use, quietly become extensions of our hand. The UKPK in Magnacut—here in its serrated form, dressed in Heinnie’s Titech titanium scales—belongs firmly to the latter. Not a piece to be admired at a distance, but one to be lived with. Everyday. Tested. Carried without ceremony. This tool is low profile but with an hungry edge. What strikes first is the paradox. A familiar, ergonomic silhouette—born from a will shaped by strict legal constraints—yet delivering a level of cutting performance that feels anything but limited. That serrated edge does not flatter at…

Researching for a presentation I gave last summer at the National Defense Industrial Association Future Forces Conferences on robotics and drones I realized that while the US Army is working diligently to field drones in large numbers, it’s just a drop in the bucket once they figure out how many ground robotic systems they’ll need. To illustrate my point I explained that at the time, the US Army had an inventory of around 3,900 aircraft and 700 enduring capability drones. Meanwhile, there were ~420,000 ground vehicles making it about 11:1 ground to air systems. I expect we’ll see a similar…

Exploiting enemy communications has never been more important for New Zealand Army Electronic Warfare Operators. As warfare continues to evolve technologically, maintaining their technical abilities, tactical mindset and overall fitness is imperative. 21 APRIL, 2026 As enemy troops advance up the southern coast of the fictional island of Panay, an Anzac Battle Group has mobilised in response. As the two forces prepare to stand-off along the main road artery north, a smaller team of NZ Army specialist Electronic Warfare Operators skirt around the Western flank. Working alongside an infantry company their mission is to destroy enemy reconnaissance assets and deny…
