WASHINGTON — The U.S. Army announced today the award to Palantir USG Inc., Palo Alto, California, of a $48,094,071 firm-fixed-price delivery order for a software system to modernize how ammunition is tracked and managed at the enterprise level. This new software platform will replace nine legacy platforms, a critical step to consolidate and streamline ammunition management.
The delivery order was awarded competitively through a call for solutions under the Army Open Solicitation. It establishes a 12-month base period to develop, configure, and field the system’s core capabilities, with up to five optional years to support continuous optimization and scaling.
This award is the culmination of a competitive three-phase selection process completed in just six weeks, demonstrating the Army’s commitment to inject speed and agility into the defense acquisition process. Phase one included an evaluation of solution briefs in four areas: relevance, innovation, scalability and feasibility. Selected vendors progressed to live capability demonstrations in phase II, followed by formal proposals in phase three. Companies were competitively selected within each phase.
Vendors were evaluated on key capabilities including integrating data from disparate legacy systems, the ability to provide robust planning and forecast models, and support tactical users in disconnected or low-bandwidth environments.
This new enterprise ammunition management system will provide a single, authoritative view of ammunition assets and processes, replacing nine separate Army ammunition software systems currently in use, including the Standard Army Ammunition System – Modernization, Aviation and Missile Command Ammunition Tracking System, Ammunition Supply Point Management System, Industrial Base Assessment Tool, Lifecycle Management Solutions (for Rocket, Missiles, and Launcher Systems), Munitions History Program, Munitions Items Disposition Action System, Price Budget and Execution Suite, and Stockpile Inventory List Comparator.
The new software solution will leverage commercial low-code, no-code technology and will provide end?to?end total asset visibility across the entire munitions lifecycle – from planning, production, and procurement, to storage, surveillance, distribution, expenditure, and final disposition. Ultimately, this system is one element to modernize overall ammunition systems, retire legacy systems and improve audit readiness.
