Sencut’s latest flipper, the Selkyris, is primed to drop in the next couple of weeks. A mid-sized clip point blade with a super sleek profile sets this user apart from its fellow Sencuttians.

It’s hard to believe that, not so many years ago, sub-2 inch EDC blades were the hot thing – it wasn’t unheard of to see a larger size spec’d for daily carry, but far, far less common than it is today. In fact, we’d go so far as to say that it’s unusual to see an EDC knife release these days with a blade length under that 3-inch mark. Evidently the knife world, like many other niche communities, has its seasons and cycles, where things go out of fashion only to return in a few years.

All of which is to say that here, on the Selkyris, we see the latest of many, many examples of the EDC knife with a mid-size blade length – in this case, 3.36 inches. The low-snouted clip point on the Selkyris certainly gives it an injection of welcome ‘tude, while being just as capable of the usual cutting job suspects as more traditionally-proportioned clips; opened with a flipper or its thumb studs, the Selkyris blade is made from Old Reliable – AKA, D2 semi-stainless steel.

Beneath the cutting edge we’re staring down a handle made mostly from aluminum, enclosing a button lock inside and supporting a reversible deep carry pocket clip on the exterior. We didn’t mention it above, but the Selkyris is another design done in-house. It weighs 3.15 oz. – the choice of handle material certainly helps to keep the weight down here.

Sencut says the Selkyris will be available later this month.
