Kizer designer Jonathan Styles has a nice-looking premium hitting shelves now, the Topsail. Sized for EDC and dressed to impress with four different eye-catching configurations, the Topsail is both a statement piece and a usable Kizer tool.

Styles, who hails from Newfoundland, Canada, hopped into the knife field in 2019 – but despite being a relative newcomer, he has managed to cultivate a pretty portly production piece portfolio for himself, many pieces of which bear the Kizer imprint. In fact, the company liked his work so much that the brought Styles on as an exclusive designer, where he puts continues to add notches to his knife design belt.

The Topsail may have a nautically-flavored name, but this one seems best-suited for day-to-day carry on terra firma, with a clean, bellied out drop point that runs to 3.1 inches in length. It does not take an edge geometry master to see how the Topsail will be able to take on the rogue’s gallery of cutting tasks daily life throws our way, nor a metallurgist to appreciate the solid performance of long-running manufacturer favorite M390 or newer kid on the block S45VN; which blade steel you get depends on the model you opt for.

Discerning eyes and appreciators of the more outre materials in production knifemaking will enjoy how Styles styled his latest release. Titanium handle scales form the basis of all four flavors, but the swooping inlay varies from model to model: those interested in the S45VN version of the Topsail can choose between blue crystallized titanium or timascus, while the M390 models come with either green crystallized ti or zirconium.

The Topsail is available now.
