Grzegorz Grabarski is back on the grind (pun intended) this month with a fresh Bestech collaboration folder, the Mothus. The Mothus provides reliable mid-size cutting power in an affordable package with memorable styling.

Grabarski first made his presence known in the knife community under his handle Kombou, but, ever since stepping into the knife design game himself Grabarski’s own name started to be recognized as more of his work flowed into the market. Grabaski’s portfolio includes big knives and small knives, premium pieces and entry level users, and he’s not afraid to get a little bit crazy with it, both on the blade and handle shape.

That being said, the Mothus is visually pared down, comprised of simple and intuitive shapes. The blade, for instance, is a 3.47 inch drop point, very classically done and thus an able matter separator all around. The 14C28N blade is opened with a thumb disk – which has never really had its day in the sun like most of the other major opening methods has, but is always a welcome site.

The Mothus handle might be where the name comes from, as the G-10 scales laid on the simple silhouette have tiered, swooping millwork that does evoke the very fine curves and details of a moth’s wing. Less poetically, we see a cross-bar lock implemented here, which makes the Mothus very lefty-friendly – especially given that the thumb disk is innately ambidextrous, and the pocket clip can be swapped to either side.

The Mothus is available now.
