A woman in England is recovering after being shot multiple times in her home on Christmas Eve while her 1-year-old son was present — and police said the two shooters are still at large.
According to a press release from the Metropolitan Police in London, officers were called to a home in the city’s Peckham district at around 10:50 p.m. local time on Dec. 24, 2025, after receiving reports of gunshots.
Once on scene, officers and paramedics with the London Ambulance Service found a victim, identified only as a woman in her 20s, with multiple gunshot wounds.
“She was taken to hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition where she remained in a critical care unit over Christmas,” police said, noting that she was still hospitalized as of Saturday, Jan. 10.
Officials said the woman’s 1-year-old child was at home during the shooting but was unharmed.
During their initial investigation, police found that two men approached the home’s front door. Just moments later, the suspects allegedly fired bullets through the door, hitting the woman. Seven total shots are believed to have been fired.
The two men then fled the scene, heading from Cronin Street toward Commercial Way.

Both men were dressed in dark clothing, officials said. One was wearing a gray hooded top and is believed to have been carrying a firearm. The second man was wearing a dark‑colored hooded top.
“This was a shocking act of violence, carried out at a family home where a young child was present. It is vital we identify those responsible and ensure justice for the victim,” Detective Inspector Jordan Gardner said, before asking the public for help in identifying the shooter.

“We know there will be people who saw or heard something that could help us. Even if the information seems minor, please come forward,” Gardner continued.
The detective added that investigators are looking to hear from anyone who was near the intersection of Cronin Street, Commercial Way or Moody Road between 9:45 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
“Officers are urging anyone who may have seen two men acting suspiciously, who witnessed them leaving the scene, or who has doorbell, CCTV or dash‑cam footage from the surrounding area to contact police,” the police press release states.
