A Texas woman has been charged with reckless arson after she allegedly burned her boyfriend’s clothes in a barbecue pit, officials said on Monday, Jan. 5.
The woman allegedly burned the clothes in a barbecue pit on an apartment balcony in Sheldon, Texas, the Harris County Fire Marshal said in a statement. The fire allegedly came after the woman and her boyfriend were involved in a “domestic disturbance,” investigators discovered when they arrived at the scene, Fox 26 reported.
The Harris County Fire Marshal says that the woman attempted to put out the fire, but it “later rekindled and spread to the building,” according to the agency’s statement.
The fire spread to other apartments, leaving 13 units “heavily and irreparably damaged,” Sheldon Community Fire & Rescue said.
The 13 apartments were damaged by fire, smoke or water. The second floor also collapsed onto the first floor, per Fox 26.
Randall was transported to the hospital for undisclosed reasons. One firefighter was later taken to the hospital, but is in stable condition, the outlet reported.
