The Trace Hit Piece Chronicles Trump’s 2A Accomplishments

When it comes to getting things backward, few “media” outlets do it better than Bloomberg-funded thetrace.org, a supposed neutral website that is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the modern gun-ban movement.

That’s why a recent hit piece concerning pro-gun actions by President Donald Trump during the first year of his second term can double as a resume for the president, showing everyone just how much his administration has done for lawful gun owners already.

“The president’s return marked a shift in the federal government’s approach to gun violence,” the report’s subhead lamented. “Here are some of the major developments.”

Interestingly, those “major developments” The Trace tries to cast as problems or setbacks were actually big accomplishments for the president and his administration. With The Trace’s help, let’s take a look at some of the most important ones.

As The Trace pointed out, the president got off to a quick start, with this February 7 entry.

“Trump signs an executive order directing Attorney General Pam Bondi to review Biden administration gun policies for any Second Amendment ‘infringements,’” the report stated. “The order identifies seven categories for review, including Biden’s executive actions, gun-related actions Biden directed federal agencies to undertake, and the government’s positions in gun-related litigation.”

Of course, that was just the start. In all, The Trace chronicles 15 “major developments,” all of which gun owners would see as accomplishments, not setbacks.

Consider this one from March 20.

“Bondi introduces a rule that would restore funding for the process through which people banned from owning firearms can apply for the reinstatement of their gun rights,” the report stated.

Or this one, from April 7.

“Trump repeals the Biden administration’s ‘zero-tolerance’ policy for gun dealers, making it easier for them to stay in business after breaking the law,” the report stated.

Actually, the repeal of that policy made it so that gun retailers weren’t being forced out of business for minor clerical errors. But The Trace, of course, had to explain it “their way.”

The entry for July 4 is equally important.

“Trump signs the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which contains a provision ending the $200 fee to register machine guns and silencers,” the report lamented. “The fee was implemented in 1934.”

And, of course, The Trace had to make a passing mention—its final point—of the administration’s new Second Amendment unit.

“The Justice Department opens a gun rights unit within its Civil Rights Division,” the Trace whined. “The unit is tasked with challenging gun control laws across the country.”

Ultimately, The Trace has finally published a story that gun owners might actually care about. By criticizing the president’s actions on Second Amendment policy, the outlet managed to give a rousing endorsement of why all gun owners should be cheering President Trump’s first year, especially after four long years of the anti-gun Biden administration.
