Live Free Armory(LFA) has released updated versions of their Apollo 11 2011 style pistol family. The 2026 version of the Apollo feels like a night and day difference from their debut product.

The Apollo 11 is nearly all machined in house, with the exception of springs, grip screws, and the magazine catch components that, in a 2011 style pistol, can streamline production by eliminating inconsistency and delays tied to vendor supply.

The most exciting update to the design is the inclusion of an external extractor, much like some of the other recent 2011 introductions to the market. The biggest benefit of an external extractor is that it does away with the need to tension and fit the internal extractor found in legacy 2011 or 1911 designs. Gone are the days of tediously tuning, profiling, and blending aftermarket extractors.

The next biggest change to the Apollo family is the inclusion of an aluminum grip. The original Apollo family sported a 3D printed grip that LFA outsourced. While the grip offered good traction, it did not feel overly aggressive or like it would tear hands up at the end of a long day of training.

LFA is offering the Apollo in full size, compact, and subcompact configurations, all with a range of custom options to choose from, including barrel porting, magwells, and multiple Cerakote color options.

While at first glance this may seem like just another double stack 1911. However, this is a 2011 style pistol that is completely machined even down to the trigger bow for under $1,000. LFA has a history in aerospace manufacturing, and they have definitely brought that experience to the firearms market.

Introducing the cutting-edge Apollo 11 9mm Pistol, a marvel of firearm engineering that seamlessly blends timeless design with modern innovation to deliver unmatched performance and reliability. Crafted with precision and attention to detail, this pistol is the embodiment of form and function. The Apollo 11 pistol boasts a sleek and elegant profile, with a heat treated 416 stainless steel slide, 4140 steel frame that exudes sophistication. Its streamlined frame, available in various colors, not only looks stunning but also ensures excellent ergonomics for a comfortable grip and easy handling. This pistol offers a double-stack magazine design, allowing for an impressive capacity of up to 17+1 rounds of 9mm ammunition. Whether for self-defense, competitive shooting, or target practice, you’ll have ample firepower at your disposal. The heart of the Apollo 11 pistol lies in its meticulously engineered components. Its match-grade barrel guarantees exceptional accuracy, while the finely tuned trigger system provides a crisp, consistent break for precise shot placement. The Apollo 11 features a match grade 4.9 inch bushingless-bull barrel that is honed, burnished to an 8-micron finish, and rifle cut for unparalleled accuracy. Each component is hand-fitted for optimal performance. With its innovative recoil reduction system and aggressive grip texture, this pistol delivers minimal recoil, allowing for rapid follow-up shots and improved accuracy. Whether you’re a seasoned shooter or a novice, you’ll appreciate the reduced muzzle rise and enhanced control.
