New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore is facing a domestic assault charge, according to reports.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE, Barmore is charged with misdemeanor domestic assault and battery on a family/household member, stemming from an Aug. 8 incident at his home in Mansfield, Mass.
The complaint was filed in Attleboro District Court on Dec. 16, according to court records.
The documents came to light a day after it was reported that Barmore’s teammate, wide receiver Stefon Diggs, was also charged with assault.
According to a summons report filed by a Mansfield police officer attached to the complaint, Barmore allegedly got into an argument with his girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child, about the temperature of the air conditioner in his room.
Later that day, she told police, she was eating and Barmore allegedly asked her “why she was eating his food.”
The woman told police that she decided to leave and started packing her belongings. She later was on the phone with her mother when Barmore allegedly took the phone and disconnected it, per the summons report.
She then said she tried to go to the front door of the home to “scream for help” but that Barmore allegedly grabbed her and threw her to the ground.
As she tried to get up, the woman alleged that Barmore allegedly prevented her by grabbing her shirt “in the area of the neck.”
The woman eventually was able to get up and later left the home with her daughter after calling a car service provided by the Patriots, per the summons report.
Later that month, the woman contacted Mansfield police about the incident, according to the summons report. She told the officer that she feared Barmore and claimed that he once threatened to have his cousin “f— you up.”
The woman further told police that she was 7 weeks pregnant and ultimately decided to press charges in September.
Barmore is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 3.
“We are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that no criminal conduct took place,” said Barmore’s lawyer, David Meier. “Based on the facts and the law, we expect that this personal matter will be resolved in the near future and both parties will move forward together.”

Barmore has played in all 16 of the Patriots’ games this season.
“The Patriots were made aware at the time of the incident and informed the NFL in a timely manner,” the Patriots wrote in a statement on Wednesday. “The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, as we have over the past few months, and cooperate fully with the league. We will have no further comment at this time.”
Diggs, who is represented by the same attorney as Barmore, is accused of assaulting his chef after an argument over back pay.
The star wide receiver’s lawyer said Diggs “categorically denies the allegations.”
Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said he wasn’t disappointed in either Diggs or Barmore, adding “these are just allegations.” He also didn’t indicate he intended to bench either player as the football season comes to a conclusion and the playoffs loom.
“I haven’t heard anything that would keep either player from the game,” said Vrabel.
