  • Tyler Holman pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Ashley Gandolfi
  • Holman was arrested after he crashed Gandolfi’s car while her body was inside the vehicle
  • The pair reportedly shared a child together

An Oregon man was sentenced to life in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend, whose body was found in her own car after he drunkenly crashed it.

Tyler Holman pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the 2025 death of Ashley Gandolfi on Jan. 5, 2026, according to reports from KGW, KPTV and the Salem Statesman Journal.

He was later sentenced to life in prison on Jan. 14.

Citing the Marion County District Attorney’s Office, KPTV reported that Holman was arrested in January 2025 after he was involved in a rollover car crash in Polk County.

When authorities searched the vehicle Holman had been driving, they found the body of Gandolfi, which had been inside the car at the time of the crash, KGW reported. Investigators later determined that she hadn’t been killed in the crash, per the outlet.

It was eventually determined that Gandolfi had died from a gunshot wound, according to the outlets.

Prosecutors said that the car Holman drove was actually Gandolfi’s and that he was intoxicated at the time, per the outlets.

The Statesman Journal reported that Holman and Gandolfi were previously in a relationship and shared a child together.

The child was living with Gandolfi’s parents at the time of the murder, according to the newspaper, citing court records.

KPTV and the Statesman Journal reported that a second defendant in the case pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse in March 2025.

Holman was charged with a weapons offense, as well as tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse but they were dropped following his guilty plea to murder, KPTV reported.

He will be eligible for parole after 25 years, per the Statesman Journal.
