A nurse in England will spend over a decade in prison for neglecting teenage patients in her care.
Emma Sinclair, 30, was sentenced to 15 years in prison at Southampton Crown Court on Monday, Nov. 3 after pleading guilty to three counts of ill-treatment and willful neglect, according to a news release from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.
Sinclair was working with children as a community nurse when the offenses took place on Feb. 6, 2024, per the release. The statement does not include further details about the ordeal, though the BBC notes she was working at the time in a role supporting children with cancer.
“I am pleased for the young victims and their families that justice has now been served and that they can now attempt to move on with their lives, knowing that Sinclair is in prison and can no longer harm any other vulnerable child,” said lead police investigator Rebecca Stevens.
