Tabatha Jones, who made the 911 call, was found in a bedroom with a gunshot wound and alleged her mother shot her in the side, according to the affidavit.

She was transported to the hospital, where she died nearly an hour later, police said.

After obtaining a search warrant for the home, a .380-caliber pistol was allegedly found in the living room next to Battle’s purse. A bullet casing that matched the gun’s caliber was found near Jones’ room, according to the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, during a police interrogation, Battle allegedly said that Jones was “upset” that she had taken alcohol that belonged to her, and that after Jones began going into “rooms that were not hers,” the two began to “verbally argue.”

While speaking with investigators, Battle allegedly claimed that the argument never became physical, but that the gun was hers, and that she had gotten it out of her purse to “scare” Jones.

Battle denied shooting her daughter, per the affidavit.

Battle was arrested at the scene and has been charged with murder, according to the affidavit and online records reviewed by PEOPLE. No bail had been set as of Tuesday evening.
