  • Police are also trying to speak to a person of interest, 45-year-old Lavelle Cotton
  • Ashlynn was last seen getting into Cotton’s car

Police in Washington state are searching for a missing 15-year-old girl who has not been seen in over a month.

Ashlynn Hanley was last seen on Dec. 10, wearing a pink puffy jacket and possibly heading to Seattle, the Port Orchard Police Department said.

In a subsequent update, Port Orchard police said they wanted to speak to Lavelle Cotton, 45, regarding Ashlynn’s disappearance.

Cotton’s car is a 2011 Buick Enclave that Ashlynn was seen getting into prior to her disappearance, Fox 13 reported.

Ashlynn’s mother, Jade Hanley, told NBC that her daughter had been released from a juvenile detention center days before she went missing and was wearing an ankle monitor.

Ashlynn was staying with her grandmother at the time of her disappearance, and Jade told NBC that the grandmother had taken her daughter to school on Dec. 10.

But her ankle monitor was later cut off and last pinged near a bowling alley, NBC reported.

Authorities later released surveillance footage of Ashlynn getting into the Buick registered to Cotton on Dec. 10, per NBC.

Cotton, who also goes by nicknames Money Making Prince and Little P Dog, according to police, is 5-foot-9 and weighs 130 lbs.

“We’ve been in contact with an individual identifying as Mr. Cotton on the phone,” Port Orchard Deputy Chief Alan Iwashita told NBC, though he noted that they had not yet spoken to him in person.

Cotton has not been accused of a crime.
