He is also facing seven years of extended supervision after his release.
“It’s a really sad and really horrible situation,” White’s defense attorney Annette Rauch tells PEOPLE. “He took full accountability for everything that happened yesterday. Obviously is incredibly remorseful. And very sorry to his family, the child’s mother and her family as they’re dealing with the fallout. Milwaukee police officers responded to a report of possible child abuse at a local hospital on Nov. 5, 2024.
White’s son was suffering from multiple injuries including a skull fracture, six fractured ribs at “different stages of healing” and a healing left clavicle fracture, according to a criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE.
Police determined during their investigation that White was taking care of the boy while the mother had gone out.

During the police investigation, White allegedly gave multiple different stories about what happened to his son. At one point, he told a detective the boy’s mom accidentally bumped his head on the door frame when she rushed out of the bedroom to get him help. At another point, he claimed the boy fell while he was changing his diaper, according to the complaint.
He eventually told police he picked up his son while playing video games to “keep him chill for a little bit,” per the complaint.
At the time, White was playing a “competitive” game of NBA 2K — and losing.
“[White] was down 2 points in the fourth quarter of the game and became frustrated while holding [his son], ultimately throwing [his son] against the wall,” the complaint states.
The boy struck the wall before landing face first on the bed, according to the complaint.
“My intentions were never to hurt my baby boy. Everything just happened so quick,” White told the court during his sentencing, Fox 6 reported. “I want to take full accountability for my wrongs and my actions.”
Prosecutors said the boy now has vision issues and needs a feeding tube, according to Fox 6.
“You have one of the most innocent of innocent victims in our community hurt by the very person who under the law should protect them and keep them safe and then attempts to cover up his actions,” prosecutor Matthew Torbenson said during sentencing, per Fox 6.
