A man claims he was forced to choke his dog to death after the animal mauled him.
Matt Porter, 35, says he was bitten about 70 times during the attack, which he says lasted 45 minutes and left him without the use of one of his hands, according to Cornwall Live.
“I grabbed her by her neck and tried to talk to her and calm her. I told her she was hurting me and to stop but she wouldn’t,” Porter said, per Cornwall Live. He adds, “I was bleeding to death and I didn’t want to die, so even though I’d lost the use of my hands, I used sheer willpower and choked her to death with my forearms.”
Porter says “there was no other option” and that he “passed out in a puddle of blood that was around seven foot wide and woke up in hospital,” the outlet reports.
According to a GoFundMe campaign based out of Illinois and created by Porter’s sister to help with medical expenses, Porter took in a pit bull named Karma from “an abusive family” eight months prior to the Feb. 19 attack in his home.

“The attack, it happened out of nowhere,” the fundraiser states. “She was not provoked or anything in this situation, Karma just switched and started attacking him. Matt did not expect this to happen and was so caught off guard. He said it turned into a fight for his life so quickly.”
According to the fundraiser, Porter is expected to have multiple surgeries on both of his arms, which he frequently uses in his job as a tree cutter.
“He is going to need all the help he can get,” the fundraiser reads.
