Daphne Blunt claims she was recently the victim of a home invasion, as she recounted for her hundreds of thousands of followers this week.
In her video posted on Monday, Feb. 2, the influencer alleged that around 4 a.m., two men broke into her home. Blunt said that an intruder “charged upstairs” and entered a room where her family members were, one of whom “enacted his rights to the Castle Doctrine under California law and was able to scare the two assailants away and out of the house,” said Blunt.
PEOPLE can confirm that LAPD officers reported a hot prowl burglary and gunshots fired around 4:40 a.m. in Blunt’s neighborhood last week. Blunt did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
California’s Castle Doctrine, which is codified as Penal Code §198.5, grants people the right to protect themselves against home intruders using a “force intended or likely to cause death or great bodily injury,” per state legislature.
Blunt said that the protection measures were enough to scare both assailants away and out of the house, though she noted that one of the men was injured and in need of hospital care, and therefore “immediately apprehended” by the police.
While the influencer said she was not in the room where the confrontation took place, she was woken up by the sound of her home alarm and could hear the “commotion” from her bedroom.
“I stood up, turned my light on to call 911 and waited, because I did not know if my parents were unalived. I didn’t know what had happened, but I knew it was something bad,” she explained. “Fortunately, my family member then came into my room, got me, brought me to the area that was designated safe in the home as we waited for the police to arrive.”
She emphasized the “traumatizing” nature of the situation, calling it “everyone’s worst nightmare.” Blunt noted that she lives in a safe neighborhood and a home with ample protections, like an alarm system and cameras.

She also claimed that police believe that she and her family were targeted “most likely because of my social media presence.”
Blunt has built a following online by posting closet tours and shopping hauls that showcase her collection of luxurious items, like designer handbags and high-end jewelry. However, in her video about the burglary, she noted that much of what she shows online isn’t actually in her home.

“A lot of the things that you see me post, I’m not stupid enough to leave laying around. My closet is now bolted. It’s basically a safe. You can’t get into it,” she said. “There are no longer goods on the premises for you to take. Social media is fake. Social media is not real. You think that I live in this big house alone, by myself, with no protection and that you can just come, overpower me and take my things? That’s not the case.”
In addition to the unusual timing of the robbery — a crime which is usually attempted during the day, when people are expected to be out of the house, as Blunt noted — she said her neighbor saw the break-in and tried to scare the intruders off with a light.
“But these assailants were bold, and they knew what they wanted to come get. And they were not going to be deterred by an alarm, by witnesses, by neighbors, by sounds. The only thing that deterred them was a life-threatening situation,” she continued. “You come into my home, you are putting yourself in a life-or-death situation.”

Blunt explained that she’s previously dealt with “stalker situations” and both kidnapping and robbery threats since becoming a public figure, and even after experiencing a real break-in, she still feels that there is “a greater good” in the content she shares.
“I really believe that it’s important what I’m doing. I know people see it as like stupid shopping and bragging content, but there’s something so polarizing and important that I’m doing with this content that I won’t be silenced. I’m not going to stop,” said Blunt, who referred to Sofia Coppola’s 2013 film The Bling Ring in her TikTok’s caption.
“This is the universe testing me. That’s what people want. People want me to be silenced, and I’m not going to be silenced,” Blunt continued. “I’m now apparently putting my life at risk, showing you guys what handbags I think you should buy. This is the society that we’re currently living in. It’s really scary.”
