NEED TO KNOW

  • Authorities are investigating why Jacob Prichard, 34, allegedly broke into the apartment of his co-worker at a US Air Force Base in Ohio and killed her
  • Besides murdering Jaime Gustitus, 25, he also killed his wife, Jaymee Prichard, 33, police allege
  • Prichard drove to a city parking lot where he died by suicide, next to the open trunk where he had placed his dead wife

Authorities are investigating the apparent murder of a US Air Force Lieutenant in Ohio who was fatally shot by a co-worker — who authorities say went on to kill his wife and then himself.

US Air Force 1st Lt. Jaime Gustitus, 25, of Sugarcreek Township, Ohio, was murdered when Jacob Prichard, 34, of Huber Heights, broke into her apartment at 2 a.m. on Sat. Oct. 25 and fatally shot her, according to a press release from the West Milton Police Department.

Prichard had also killed his wife, Jaymee Prichard, 33, placed her dead body in the trunk of their car and at 4:22 a.m., drove to the West Milton Municipal parking lot, where he died by suicide a minute later near the open trunk, the sheriff’s office said.

Prichard left the trunk open “so officers who found him would also find Jaymee Prichard in the trunk,” according to the sheriff’s office, who had reviewed surveillance footage of the incident.

Authorities said they do not know when or where Jaymee Prichard was killed and are currently investigating the timeline of events. Now, questions are swirling about why Prichard killed Gustitus, a work acquaintance of the couple.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where the three worked, said in a release that Gustitus and Jacob worked worked in the Air Force Research Laboratory while Jaymee worked within the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.
