Girl Is Mauled to Death by Family Dog Weeks Before 3rd Birthday — and Her Parents Were Just Arrested By Christine Pelisek

The parents of a 2-year-old Oklahoma girl who was mauled to death by the family dog just weeks before her birthday have been arrested.

Jordan McGuire, 34, and Darci Lambert, 24, were arrested on complaints of second-degree murder Friday, Nov. 21, in connection with the death of Locklynn McGuire.

The Oklahoma City Police Department was called to a residence in the 1500 block of Northeast 26th Street just after 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 for a child welfare check.

Officers found Locklynn deceased at the home.

According to Oklahoma City Police Staff Sergeant Dillon Quirk, detectives with the Crimes Against Children department were called to the scene and began investigating.

“They began an investigation and learned that the child was there in the room inside the home with an animal and received those injuries,” he tells PEOPLE.

Locklynn had been mauled by one of the family’s four dogs.

Quirk says during the investigation, detectives “learned that the child was left in that room with the animal for a substantial period of time before she was discovered deceased,” he says. “And ultimately a murder arrest came from that investigation.”

Relatives have since created a GoFundMe to help with funeral and memorial costs for the 2-year-old.

“Locklynn was pure light,” the fundraiser reads. “She was curious, gentle, and full of joy — the kind of little girl whose smile could brighten even the hardest day. She loved deeply and was deeply loved. Losing her in such a heartbreaking and unexpected way has left our entire family shattered.”
