While reporting on the news of Renee Nicole Good’s death in Minneapolis after an ICE officer shot and killed her, Fox News host Jesse Watters led with details about Good’s sexuality and her use of pronouns online.
During a Wednesday, Jan. 7, segment on the network, Watters made a point to describe Good through her relationships and social media presence.
“The woman who lost her life was a self-proclaimed poet from Colorado with pronouns in her bio. A 37-year-old White woman named Renee Good,” he said. “The Daily Mail says she leaves behind a lesbian partner and a child from a previous marriage.”
He added, “She was a disruptor, though she considered herself a legal observer. But there’s no evidence she had a law degree.”

Good was fatally shot by an ICE agent on Wednesday during an immigration enforcement operation. ICE just began large-scale raids in Minneapolis as President Donald Trump and his administration continue to vilify Somali immigrants living in the area, PEOPLE previously reported.
Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, confirmed her daughter’s death to The Minnesota Star Tribune, but denied that Good was “part of anything” like a coordinated anti-ICE movement that the Trump administration has tried linking her to.
“She was probably terrified,” Ganger told the outlet of the incident, describing her daughter as “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.”
“She was extremely compassionate. She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being,” Ganger added.
City Council Member Jason Chavez said the 37-year-old mother was a U.S. citizen and “an observer … watching out for our immigrant neighbors,” ABC News reported.

Good suffered gunshot wounds to the head, ABC News reported, citing city officials. She was transported to a local hospital after the shooting, where she was pronounced dead, according to the outlet.
The Star Tribune reported that Good was previously married to Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., who died at age 36 in 2023. His father, Timmy Ray Macklin Sr., told the outlet he was shocked by the news of Good’s death, and said that his son and Good had shared a 6-year-old child who has now lost both of his parents.
“There’s nobody else in his life,” Macklin Sr. said of his grandson. “I’ll drive. I’ll fly. To come and get my grandchild.”
According to The Associated Press, Good’s 6-year-old was from her second marriage; AP reported that she was also a mom to two older children, ages 12 and 15, from her first marriage.

In remarks after Good’s death, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem claimed Good had been “stalking and impeding” ICE agents, and accused her of “domestic terrorism.”
DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin also alleged in a statement that the driver had “weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them.”
McLaughlin alleged the ICE agent who shot Good was “fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public.”
Trump, 79, blamed the left for the incident in a post on Truth Social, where he said the video showed Good was “very disorderly, obstructing and resisting,” and said she “violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense.”
He added, “The reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis.”
On social media, Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz addressed the Trump administration’s claims, retweeting a DHS statement and writing, “I’ve seen the video. Don’t believe this propaganda machine. The state will ensure there is a full, fair, and expeditious investigation to ensure accountability and justice.”

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey on Wednesday demanded that ICE leave his city.
“We’ve dreaded this moment since the early stages of this ICE presence in Minneapolis,” Frey said at a press conference on Wednesday. “This was a federal agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying.”
He then warned ICE, “Get the f— out of Minneapolis,” telling the federal agency, “We do not want you here. Your stated purpose for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, but you are doing exactly the opposite.”
