The grandson of a married couple in their 70s found dead inside their South Carolina home earlier this month has been arrested on murder charges.

Levi Kevin Jones, 19, of Westminster, S.C., is facing two counts each of murder and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime in connection with the deaths of his grandparents, Larry Moore, 76, and Sandra Moore, 75, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Jones was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center over the weekend and remains in jail pending a bond hearing, per the sheriff’s office. It’s unclear if he has entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on his behalf.

Larry and Sandra were found dead by a family member inside their home near Westminster on the evening of Jan. 15, authorities said. Their deaths were believed to be homicides, and investigators said at the time that it was believed to be an “isolated” incident, per a previous statement.

According to arrest warrants cited by the sheriff’s office, Jones allegedly stabbed Larry multiple times in the torso and neck and strangled Sandra to death.

Authorities have not shared a potential motive for the violence.

According to his obituary, Larry was also well known for operating the restaurant Moore and Moore Fish Camp, which he and his wife ran for more than 40 years. Sandra was remembered in her obituary for her love of hummingbirds, while he was remembered for his love of fishing.

FOX 4 News reported that the couple retired in 2016.
