The suspect in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk can be seen running and jumping off a roof at Utah Valley University before fleeing the scene in new video footage released by authorities.
Kirk was shot and killed during a rally hosted by Turning Point USA, the organization he founded, at the university in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Authorities believe the shooter fired from the roof of a building about 200 yards away from where the rally was happening.
On Thursday, Sept. 11, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) shared new details regarding the incident, writing in an X post, “The FBI is releasing video of the shooter who murdered Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.”
“Following the shooting, the individual jumps from a rooftop and runs away from the location,” the FBI added.
“Trace evidence collected from the rooftop includes shoe impressions, a forearm imprint, and a palm print. The shooter’s weapon and ammunition were recovered from a wooded area near the university,” the post stated.
In the video, the suspect, who was wearing dark clothing, was seen on camera running across the roof before jumping down and walking by a parking lot towards a wooded area.
The FBI also confirmed it was “offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individual(s) responsible for the murder,” per a news release.
The FBI said that the suspect “climbed up to a rooftop” at around 12 p.m. local time, before “he jumped off and ran away” after firing the fatal shot.
Following the shooting, authorities found a “high-powered bolt action rifle” near the scene and released surveillance images of a person of interest, clad in a long-sleeve black shirt, a hat and sunglasses.

The FBI shared images of the person of interest after initially saying it would use “technologies” to analyze the photos before asking the public for help.
The shooter “appears to be of college age,” according to law enforcement and blended in on the campus. After the shot that killed Kirk, authorities said the shooter jumped from the roof and escaped to a nearby neighborhood.
Two other people were detained by authorities in connection with Kirk’s slaying on Wednesday but were later released without being charged.

A student at the university told CNN on Thursday night that he’d seen a man walking on or near the roof of the Losee Center twice in the past two weeks.
He said the suspect seen in the person of interest photos released by the FBI “looked familiar,” but he couldn’t be sure if it was the same individual.
“It was weird,” he told the outlet of seeing somebody on that part of the roof.

He told CNN that the man in question was a “tall, skinny-ish white dude [who] had dark hair. He had this backpack on and was wearing dark clothes,” adding that the individual had been looking down at the courtyard area where Kirk had been on the day he was shot.
The student didn’t report what he’d seen to authorities at the time, but did think it was unusual. He added that a professor had asked the individual if he was “doing all right,” but the man “just kind of dismissed what he said.”
Kirk, a right-wing political influencer, was known for touring college campuses around the country and hosted a podcast that made him influential among conservatives. The commentator also became a pivotal confidant of President Donald Trump throughout his three presidential campaigns, helping the Republican president reach younger conservative voters.
