NEED TO KNOW

  • Authorities believe foul play is involved in the disappearance of 35-year-old Danielle Staley
  • She was last seen on Nov. 6 near Rio Del Mar State Beach in Santa Cruz County, Calif.
  • Her boyfriend, Alx Nunez, recently told local news station KSBW that he has no involvement in her disappearance

As authorities continue to investigate the suspicious disappearance of a woman in California, her boyfriend is speaking out.

Danielle Staley, 35, was last seen around 11:23 p.m. on Nov. 6, near Rio Del Mar State Beach, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office previously said. The next day, Staley’s personal belongings were found on the beach, but she was nowhere to be found.

The sheriff’s office has said foul play is believed to be a factor in Staley’s disappearance and that she is “at risk.”

Staley’s boyfriend, Alx Nunez, recently told local news station KSBW that he reported his girlfriend missing the next morning after she didn’t return to the camper van they were traveling in. He also denied having a role in her disappearance, sharing that he stayed behind while Staley went to a bonfire.

“I said I will take a polygraph test. I would take any kind of tests you guys want,” he claimed he told investigators, the outlet reported.

Nunez also asked for the public’s help in locating Staley, reiterating the sheriff’s office’s request for surveillance footage from the area between Nov. 5 and Nov. 7.

The sheriff’s office said Nunez is not being considered a suspect, per the outlet.

Staley’s mother, April Miller, told KTVX she believes her daughter, who is normally communicative, “is not trying to disappear from her family.”

“You know, if she has gone missing, I feel that she would have done everything in her power to get a call out to one of us to let us know that she was ok,” Miller said, per the outlet.

Staley stands at 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 120 lbs., according to the sheriff’s office. She has blonde hair and was last spotted wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and leopard-print leggings.
