The Sheriff’s Office later confirmed that all suspects had been found and were in custody, per a new statement posted Wednesday morning.
In a follow-up release posted approximately two hours later, authorities said that four people were “charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony unlawful assembly.”
Two of the suspects are 16 years old, one is 17 and another is 18-year-old Jeremiah Upson, the police shared.

“Initial investigation reveals that this was an illegal gun sale/robbery,” the authorities said, per the release. “We commend our detectives on bringing this tragedy to a closure.”
They added, “We want to thank our partnership with the Fredericksburg Police Department and the Virginia State Police for their assistance during the investigation. We would certainly be remiss if we didn’t thank our community during what has been a stressful and heartbreaking several days.”
On Wednesday, the Spotsylvania County Public Schools said that schools in the area would be starting two hours later.
“This delay will provide time for our staff to have supports in place to assist students and staff who may have been impacted by the incident that took place yesterday in our community,” the CPS said, per a statement posted on Facebook.
School officials added, “As part of this support, each of our high schools will have additional deputies and presence from the Sheriff’s Office. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. No AM ECSE preschool classes. 12-month Employees report on time.”
