Two people were killed and five were injured during mass shooting at Florida State University in Tallahassee, law enforcement officials said at a April 17 press conference.
Law enforcement officials identified the suspect as Phoenix Ikner, 20, who was the son of a Leon County sheriff’s deputy.
In addition to the two people killed, two innocent people were injured. The suspect was also injured. The two deceased people were not students at the university, according to law enforcement officials.
CNN reports that a handgun was found on the person taken into custody, citing a law enforcement official. The official reportedly said a shotgun was found in the school’s student union and another gun was found in the person’s car.
The school sent its first alert about an active shooter at 12:01 p.m. ET.
