Irving, TX – August 2026 – SOG® Knives proudly announces the release of its 40th Anniversary Fat Guard Bowie knife in honor of the brand’s long-standing legacy of craftsmanship, innovation, and commitment to the knife-making tradition.

Inspired by SOG’s flagship knife, the original S1 Bowie that launched the company in 1986, the 40th Anniversary Fat Guard Bowie is a modern take on the legendary covert fighting knives used by the MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group). Established to execute unconventional warfare that other U.S. military units could not, the group carried out strategic and incredibly dangerous missions behind enemy lines in Laos, Cambodia, and North Vietnam throughout the Vietnam War.

Available in a limited run of just 500 individually serialized knives, each with numbers one through 500 etched into the butt end, this exclusive release is a collector’s item like no other. Featuring a 6.1-inch clip-point AUS 8 steel blade that resists corrosion and holds its edge, a protective polished black PVD finish, and an ergonomic stacked leather handle, it seamlessly blends performance, durability, and classic aesthetics sure to be appreciated by any knife enthusiast.

The knife also comes with a commemorative SOG 40th anniversary Zippo lighter, a rugged black leather sheath that stores the included sharpening stone in a convenient external snap pocket, a certificate of authenticity, and an anniversary plaque. All items are presented in a handcrafted pine display case featuring a glass viewing lid, creating a timeless keepsake destined to become the centerpiece of any collection.

Knife collectors and enthusiasts can get their hands on one of SOG’s 40th Anniversary Fat Guard Bowieknives or browse the brand’s entire product assortment by visiting SOGKnives.com.
