Bear with me for a bit, as this is not directly knife content. Long term readers know that I carry a convertible waxed canvas pocket organizer/valet tray, made by PNW Bushcarft.

Todd and Heather are great people.

PNW Bushcraft is a husband and wife run operation out of Washington State.  You can find them here.

https://www.pnwbushcraft.com/

They have carved out a niche for themselves making some of the best waxed cotton gear out there. Well designed, and individually crafted pieces that users, myself included, rave about. Their gathering bag is especially popular among mushroom foragers.

It folds and rides out of the way on a belt, but when ready to use, it unsnaps and conveniently hangs open.

I have been carrying a PNW Bushcraft pocket organizer for more than 4 years now.

It folds open into a valet tray, and I frequently just toss my license, a credit card, and some cash in it, and leave the wallet in the truck .

They make all sorts of other carrying bags, pouches, tool rolls, etc., and if you ask really nicely and have a good idea, they will even do a little bit of custom work. Which leads me to the subject of this article, the custom Lacrosse Referee Wallet that they just made me. I ref women’s lacrosse, but there is no reason why this would not be equally useful for a soccer referee, and hopefully over time they will have people ordering them for that sport, as there is a large market there.

When reffing, I need a pen, notebook, penalty cards, and a coin to flip. The notebook is a sample from Rite-in-Rain, one of their 4.625″x3.25″ stapled books, available here in a 3-pack:

https://www.riteintherain.com/3-25×4-625-stapled-notebook#371FX-M

The covers slide into pockets on either side, and the notebook opens normally.

The pen is a collapsible ball point, ironically by the Zebra company. (Get It? Zebra? Referee?)

Regular reader and commenter Cmeat is the one who turned me on to Zebra pens. He sent me one years ago, and I have ordered a dozen more since.

The coin-flip coin is an official USA Lacrosse referee challenge coin that was given to me at a tournament by a woman who it turns out is one of the leading officials in the country, a member of USALAX Board of Directors, and a bit of a legend in the community. She passed it to me after being impressed with my positive attitude coaching middle school girls, and is among my most prized and irreplaceable possessions.

The penalty cards are a standard set off Amazon.

I cannot recommend PNW Bushcraft enough. I am not alone in that sentiment. I cannot count the number of mutual friends who have that same opinion. Todd and Heather are great folks, and the gear they make is top notch.

This might not be a review of a knife or a knife company, but Todd and Heather are knife people, and their company fills an important role in the knife community. Check them out at PWNBushcraft.com
