The latest collaboration model in Jack Wolf Knives’s J.W. Kollab series is nearly upon us. It’s called the Scuffle, and it is a mid-sized modern flipper with a few traditional knife hallmarks thrown in on top.

With a  3.54-inch blade, the Scuffle, designed by Nick Rogers of Nitch Designs, is one of the more imposing pieces in the Jack Wolf family, living up to its rough-and-tumble name. That being said it is still an everyday carry piece, with a highly capable clip point blade profile made from the preferred super steel over at Jack Wolf headquarters, S90V. This road-tested formula brings big edge retention to the table and can work for a long time in between sharpening sessions.

Distilled down to its absolute fundamentals, the Scuffle is thoroughly modern, but throughout the design there are touches that hearken back to the traditional slipjoint patterns Jack Wolf built its brand name on before branching out into other territory. This can be seen right on the blade which, although opened with a flipper, has a large fuller on both blade flats, not too far off from the French pull-style nail marks on some slipjoints.

The handle too evokes the tools of yore with its bolster and teardrop-shaped handle – an ergonomic silhouette that has been in use, in many different forms for hundreds of years at this point. There is a sculpted titanium pocket clip on the rear scale, where too is located the frame lock mechanism. There is one bolsterless, all titanium-scale version of the Scuffle, but the other options all flaunt the eye-catching high-end materials that Jack Wolf likes to play with on its releases, including Kirinite and “crystallized titanium,” which looks pretty wicked.

The Scuffle is dropping next Friday, October 3rd, with authorized dealers.
