The season of scares is upon us, and that can only mean one thing in the knife world: limited edition Halloween releases. Of coverage of these creepy cutting tools commences today with a cucurbitaceous cover of the Civivi Yonder.

The Yonder, which is just over a year old, comes to us from designer Zac Whitmore, and it stood out to us from the 2024 Civivi knives in a couple ways. First of all, in its adherence to pure, but stylish, utility, it brought the best-selling Elementum to mind, which is never a bad thing. Second, it made a splash at Blade Show 2024 when it took home the coveted Best Buy of the Year award, meaning there was a trophy on its (metaphorical) shelf before it the (literal) dealer shelves.

Of course, the Halloween Yonder is the same as the standard models, just…..scarier. It comes in the classic Halloween color combo, with a black blade and hardware and KnifeNews Orange handle scales. Those scales, on both the front and back sides, have a jack o’ lantern face cut into them, evoking that most emblematic piece of Halloween décor, the carved pumpkin.

Should you choose to take your Halloween Yonder out on a dark and stormy night (or even a partly cloudy day), you’ll enjoy the performance of the 14C28N steel, a rock-solid entry-level stainless that is unchanged from the original Yonder configurations. The ambidextrous cross-bar lock is also here yet again, with a swappable pocket clip in tow for complete ambidexterity in design.

This terrifying creation will be haunting us in the next couple of weeks.
