Bear & Son Cutlery’s New 4.5-inch Pocketknife with D2 Steel Wharncliffe Blade

Jacksonville, Alabama – Bear & Son Cutlery, manufacturer of premium, made-in-the-USA knives for hunting, tactical, and everyday carry, proudly presents its latest addition — a 4.5-inch pocketknife featuring a D2 steel Wharncliffe blade. This precision-crafted knife, honed to a razor-sharp edge at the Alabama factory, is available with two G10 handle options and a Blue Micarta handle.

The Wharncliffe blade, with its roots in 19th-century England, was favored by sailors and craftsmen for its versatility and practicality due to the straight edge and pointed tip. This design includes a straight spine that runs parallel to the cutting edge, resulting in a razor-sharp tip and a flat cutting edge. Bear & Son Cutlery’s 4.5-inch Wharncliffe Slip Joint’s blade is constructed from D2 Tool Steel, offering maximum toughness for demanding tasks and while maintaining the blade’s tip integrity. The Wharncliffe shape excels in providing excellent control for directional cuts, particularly pull cuts, making it ideal for clean, smooth slices on delicate materials like paper, furs, and fabrics.

Customers can choose from two G10 handle colors: red or black. G10 is a high-pressure fiberglass laminate made of multiple layers of glass cloth soaked in epoxy resin. The result is an incredibly strong handle that resists fading and chipping while remaining lightweight. Alternatively, the knife is also available with a blue Micarta handle — a thermoset plastic known for its durability and secure grip.

The 4.5-inch Wharncliffe Slip Joint knife comes equipped with a robust pocket clip for secure carry, a lanyard hole, and is backed by a lifetime warranty.
