1791 Industries has just launched ultra-lightweight upper and lower AR-15 receivers called the LiteRaider series.

The original AR-15 design was always lauded for how lightweight it is, but 1791 Industries decided that they could make it even lighter without making any compromises. Hence, the company’s new LiteRaider LRM4 upper and lower receivers.

The LiteRaider LRM4 upper and lower receivers are made of Metal Matrix Composite (MMC), and 1791 Industries says that it’s 33 percent lighter than aluminum while offering “comparable strength and durability to 7075-T6 aluminum.” The company says that MMC has better thermal resistance and vibration dampening than aluminum as well. As far as weight reduction goes, the LiteRaider stripped lower weighs just 6.2 ounces and the LiteRaider stripped upper weighs only 4.8 ounces. Both the upper and lower are compatible with standard AR-15 components and the lower features an integrated trigger guard and a flared magwell.

Justin Hoffman, Director of Product Development at 1791 Industries, said this about the new LiteRaider Upper and Lower receivers:

We are developing this technology specifically for the military and law enforcement duty space. However, as ardent patriots here at 1791, we wanted to make it available to citizens at the same time, because everyone deserves a five and a half pound fighting rifle; especially the citizenry.

The LiteRaider LRM4 Upper Receiver has an MSRP of $299.99, and the LiteRaider LRM4 Lower Receiver has an MSRP of $329.99. Both are available with either a black or FDE Cerakote finish.
