A Pinzgauer fit for a god or a van that can shrink down to sub-atomic size. They’re just two of the ultra-cool movie-used cars that are going up for sale at the Petersen Automotive Museum.

While not just a prop car auction, this sale will be full of on-screen stars including one of John Wick’s muscle cars and a Mustang that’s a pony of a different stripe. Here are some of our favorites that are up for sale at the Propstore Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction.

Thor Movie Pinzgauer

In 2011’s “Thor,” Chris Hemsworth’s titular character is exiled to the desert in New Mexico. When he lands in the sand, he’s discovered by Natalie Portman as Dr. Jane Foster.

Some of the audience might have been lost in Hemsworth’s blue eyes. We were lost in the classic off-roader that the good doctor was driving through the night.

The truck they were using to explore atmospheric something or other was a 1973 Pinzgauer 710k. This is the on-screen vehicle used in the film. The rig, built by Steyr-Daimler-Puch, was named for a breed of cattle.

This one is a light tan, and it was heavily upgraded for the movie. The front bumper and winch look legit, and there are loads of LED lights mounted to the roof. A gas can in the back makes it just about perfect.

The listing says it’s not currently functional, but the dead-simple engine should be easy enough to get running. It’s air-cooled, and it sits about an inch away from your right elbow when you’re behind the wheel.

It’s also sold on a bill of sale, not with a title. But a Pinz is all about off-roading, so that might be a perk, not a hindrance.

Ant-Man’s Van in Full-Size

Ant-Man EconolineAnt-Man Econoline

If van life is more your style, then the 1973 Ford Econoline from “Ant-Man” might be more your speed. This is the van owned by Michael Pena’s character, Luis, on-screen. Paul Rudd, as Scott Lang, uses the van on-screen extensively. This is one of two vans used in the production, the prop car auction listing says. The seller isn’t sure if it’s a 302 V8 or a 351, though the VIN suggests it should be the smaller one.

It looks like this van has been put through the wringer, but a lot of that is movie magic, such as intentionally distressing it to make the van fit the character. The effect, though, is perfect. This one looks like it would be a blast to cruise around L.A.

This Olds Was a Hit for John Wick

John Wick OldsmobileJohn Wick Oldsmobile

The classic Oldsmobile Cutlass from “John Wick: Chapter 4” met our hero with a smash. In a first blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, this is the car that smokes Keanu Reeves in front of a cafe in Paris. It comes back almost immediately, with the anonymous henchmen smashing Keanu into a van before getting horrifically dispatched in a hurry.

Since this one isn’t smashed, it’s probably not the one that hit John Wick. Which is for the best, because it looks too cool to smash up like that.

George Barris Zebra Mustang

Last but not least is a much older car with a more interesting build. It’s a 1965 Ford Mustang that was transformed by movie and hot rod legend into a targa-top “Zebra” Mustang. It’s covered with fake zebra fur, and it’s the only car like this that Barris built.

It was made for 1965’s “Marriage on the Rocks.” The movie is a comedy starring Frank Sinatra, Deborah Kerr, and Dean Martin, where somehow the main character ends up divorced and then married to his best friend.

We’re not going to pretend we’ve seen that one, but we have seen this car. It’s been in the Petersen collection for decades after founder Robert Petersen found it in another collection.

This one is expected to fetch the most cash, with the estimate in a wide-ranging $100,000-200,000 window.

Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction: Los Angeles Spring 2025

The Propstore Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction runs in-person on March 26 at the Petersen Museum in L.A., and online until the 28th. If those on-screen cars aren’t what you’re looking for, then items like Braveheart’s broken sword, Maverick’s jacket, a set of Wolverine’s claws, or one of a thousand other things might catch your eye. Seriously, this catalog is a great way to spend (or maybe lose) an entire afternoon to some nostalgic dreaming.
