Nothing beats a good pair of touring-specific boots for backcountry skiing. Sure, hybrid boots are great, but a boot like the Scarpa Maestrale is engineered to be lightweight, compatible with MNC norm and all TLT bindings, and easily adjustable. Shells have their place, but there’s nothing quite like having an insulated, waterproof ski jacket to protect you against the elements during winter. The GripWalk sole provides a little extra grip for walking on slick, icy, or rocky surfaces. The boot’s powerstrap allows for a snug fit that improves control.
The 100 flex boot for sale on EVO is aimed at lighter and less aggressive skiers, who don’t need an overly stiff boot. The PowerLite Shell has varying thickness and four different types of PTU.
