Max Jolliffe didn’t find running until later in life. It was part of his journey out of drug abuse, and it became his new addiction. The 32-year-old runner started running for fun in 2017, got competitive in 2019, and he’s been crushing in the long-distance race circuit ever since.

In 2024, the Orange County native decided he was going to take on one of the toughest races of all time — the Moab 240 — a race he was determined to win.

The Moab 240 is an ultramarathon that’s renowned for its extremely challenging terrain, climate, and environmental conditions. Runners traverse a desert landscape where few plants and creatures can survive.

Naturally, the insane race draws the most obsessive ultrarunners in the world. The documentary “King of Moab” follows Jolliffe as he goes toe-to-toe with some of the best.

The feature-length film is well-produced, has great music, and tells the compelling story of how Jolliffe was crowned “The King.” For more from Jolliffe, check out his YouTube page.

Runtime: 52:28 minutes
