Julian Hernandez was mountain biking at the Quail Hill Trailhead in Irvine, Calif., when he was bitten by a rattlesnake on Feb. 1, 2026. The 25-year-old Costa Mesa local was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Over a month later, on March 11, Hernandez died in the hospital. The Orange County Coroner’s Office ruled his death the result of an animal bite. While rattlesnake bites are fairly common in California, they’re rarely fatal. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), out of the roughly 7,000 to 8,000 people bitten…

Shelby’s latest is a pickup truck, one that doesn’t make any more horsepower than the stock Ford it’s based on. But that doesn’t make the 2026 Shelby F-250 Super Baja any less impressive, because this is an HD truck ready to do Raptor things and more in the dirt. King Race Suspension Puts the Super in Super Baja Creating a heavy-duty desert basher takes serious upgrades, and Shelby American started with King Race Series suspension. Adjustable coilovers up front and standard shocks in the rear. They’re 2.5-inch shocks for strength with remote reservoirs for durability and performance over long, hard…
By Hunt Fish Shoot Posted in #Gear The Leupold Mark 4 has easily been one of the most prolific military and law enforcement scopes available. While the flagship Mark 5HD scopes superseded that family, for years, professionals and serious shooters like myself asked when it would come back. Thankfully, it did as the new Leupold Mark 4HD line of scopes. These build upon a strong pedigree, while also being up to date for modern shooters. For this instance, I want to discuss the Leupold Mark 4HD 4.5-18X52 M1C3 Side Focus FFP with the PR2-MOA reticle system. For…
US Army Designates Carbine Version of M7 NGSW Rifle as XM8 Last month, the US Army designated the XM8 and issued a national stock number: NSN 1005-01-737-3402. Featuring an 10″ barrel, the XM8 (bottom carbine) weighs 7.3 lbs versus the 8.3 lbs of the M7 carbine with 13.5″ barrel (top rifle). These weights are weapon only and do not include suppressor and optic. Developed by SIG SAUER as part of the Product Improvement Effort, it is a carbine version of the M7 Rifle. Along with the M250 Automatic Rifle, these weapons are being issued to the US Army’s close combat…

While these small mites don’t carry disease, they cause severe itching that can easily ruin a trip. Here’s everything you need to know about avoiding and treating bites from these pesky bugs. While there are many shades of green that occupy the military space (Foliage Green, Sage Green, and Army Green to name a few), Ranger Green and OD Green seem to be the most sought after and widely recognized. These two greens look similar, with muted tones that pair well with a variety of colors like gray, black, coyote brown, and Multicam or other camouflage patterns. So, what’s the difference in the two shades? OD Green, short for Olive Drab Green, has been a staple of military equipment and uniforms since World War II. It’s a warm, medium-toned green with yellow-brown…
Ram is back with another new truck for 2026. The Ram 1500 BackCountry comes with some key rough-road extras like a lift, plus special body-color accents and finishes. It’s not a big addition, but it’s not a big price, either. The BackCountry package is an add-on to the Big Horn trim with either the Hemi V8 or an SO Hurricane I6. Buyers Want More Rough-Road–Ready Trucks “The off‑road segment has been growing for a while now and Ram has been leading that charge with Warlock, Rebel, RHO and TRX,” said Tim Kuniskis. He’s the exec who is in charge of…
FENTON, Mo. (March 13, 2026) – FirstSpear®, the industry leader in load-bearing technology and personal protective equipment, announced the launch of its Vanguard Program, a strategic initiative designed to formalize the feedback loop between the engineering lab and the operational field. Coinciding with this launch, FirstSpear has named former Marine Raider and water survival expert Prime Hall as its lead maritime Vanguard. The Vanguard Program represents a distinct departure from the “influencer” models common in the industry. Instead, FirstSpear Vanguards are selected strictly for their operational pedigree, subject matter expertise, and ability to validate equipment in non-permissive environments. “The Vanguard…
FORT BELVOIR, Va. – Last month the Army officially activated the Capability Program Executive Office for Mission Autonomy, in a ceremony at the U.S. Army National Museum.
