Chiappa Firearms is starting out the new year by introducing a new L-Frame Rhino chambered in .44 Magnum, the new Chiappa 60 DS series. This product expansion represents the brand exploring larger-bore revolvers in its unique bottom-barrel, low-bore-axis revolver designs. Built around the Rhino’s trademark bottom-chamber-firing geometry, the new .44 Magnum 60 DS reduces muzzle rise and straightens recoil impulse, a decisive advantage when moving a high-pressure cartridge through a revolver platform. The enlarged L-Frame introduces updated ergonomics, including twin finger stops and a revised grip interface for improved leverage and repeatable hand placement. Despite the larger chambering, the frame…
SHOT Show 25 – OTB Boots Pirata Low OTB Boots handed out some samples of their new Pirata series, a long anticipated update to the original Maritime Assault Boot from Altama, although designed by the same team that created this new line. The Pirata series consists of models: Pirata Elite (OTB / subsurface), Pirata Mid, and Pirata Low. This is the Pirata Low. The outsole design and rubber compound are directly derived from OTB’s Abyss boot and the midsole boasts incorporates nearly an inch of advanced EVA cushioning. I can attest to the comfort for long walks. Pirata boots feature…

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Amidst the Department of War’s “Drone Dominance” intent to acquire 300,000 one-way attack drones by calendar year 2028, 2nd Marine Logistics Group has developed the Marine Corps’ first National Defense Authorizing Act-compliant 3D printed drone. The drone, titled HANX, is a holistically adaptable approved platform that can be tailored to the needs of the warfighter. HANX marks a large leap from previous Marine Corps’ 3D printed drone capabilities, such as “nibbler” in 2017, which was not subject to the same compliance requirements that exist today to meet NDAA requirements. HANX being fully NDAA…
Most people run around the SHOT show floor looking at all manner of firearms, ammunition, and tactical gear. Not me. I spent the majority of the time looking for the best knives of SHOT Show 2026. The knife guys need some love, too, and there was plenty to look at this year. In fact, there was so much to look at that there is no way on planet earth that I could see it all. I’m just one guy, and SHOT Show is huge. As such, I had to be selective and limit myself to knives from larger manufacturers that…
What it is Developed by Lirces 3, the Warbringer is a modular quick detach striking tool system that works with buffer tube style weapons like the AR-15 and those like it and non-buffer tube weapons like AK47’s and other weapons that do not require a buffer tube. The Warbringer takes popular tools like Hammers, Tomahawks, Ice picks and more and converts the striking tool part into a weapons stock or brace that then attaches to 1 inch extension pieces for non-buffer tube weapons or a quick detach hollow buffer tube handle for weapons with buffer tubes. Why Traditional stocks and…
Benchmade is bringing out the big guns in the fixed blade space later this year with the Codex87 Horizon Edge, an outdoors knife with a unique blade made from a fusion of two different steels. Benchmade may best known for its folders, but it maintains a healthy stable of fixed blades, and the eagle-eyed amongst KnifeNews readers may recognize the pattern upon which the Codex87 is based: the Saddle Mountain Skinner, a knife designed to – well, do we even have to say? Anyway, like many knives in its sub-genre, the Saddle Mountain had a recurved blade and forward spine…
On Friday, Jan. 23, an Alaskan oil rig carrying more than 4,000 gallons of oil overturned near the small town of Nuiqsut. A crew with Doyon Drilling, operating on behalf of ConocoPhillips, was moving Rig 26 — dubbed “The Beast” because it’s one of the largest mobile oil rigs in the U.S. — over a gravel road when it overturned. According to ConocoPhillips, the two people on board and six emergency responders were all treated at nearby medical facilities and then released. The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) stated that oil levels had been measured approximately 30 minutes before…

In less than 24 hours, search-and-rescue teams had to fly to the same location in Colorado’s remote Elk Mountains four times to rescue the same group of backcountry skiers in two separate incidents. Temperatures across the state plummeted over the weekend. They dropped into the single digits and even negative degrees as a winter storm passed over the region. The frigid temperatures posed serious health risks. The entire party of seven skiers showed signs of frostbite, with four requiring medical evacuation and treatment at local hospitals. One was reportedly in critical condition. The First Call: Sunday, Jan. 25. — 9:40…
