Supertramp has established itself as a world-class truck camper company, with build standards far beyond the typical recreational vehicle (RV). Its latest offering is a chassis-mounted truck camper designed to mate with a 1-ton Ford SuperDuty truck.
The Supertramp Paragon bridges the gap between the company’s slide-in truck campers and its F-550-based expedition camper. It’s also an alternative to adventure vans at a similar price point.
The Paragon is not a half-million-dollar Supertramp Megatron or a million-dollar EarthRoamer. It is a much smaller expedition-style overland camper, which costs a fraction of the price.

‘Perfect Sweet Spot Rig’
While Supertramp already sells the Ford F-550-based Megatron, it wanted to take its learnings from that project and create a more compact, lightweight, and affordable option. “The perfect sweet spot” is how the company describes its new offering.
Paragon takes the durability and drivability of the Ford F-350 and blends them with the same amenities that are found in high-end campervans and expedition-style overland rigs. Think large water capacities, dedicated interior gear storage, an optional cab-to-camper pass-through, and an optional full wet bath.
But, to keep costs and weight down, the Paragon loses things its big brother (the Megatron) has, like glass windows, a central touchscreen control panel, massive military tires, and more. Instead, it has acrylic windows, basic manual switches, and a one-ton truck chassis.
While the design and shell construction are very similar to the Megatron, Supertramp is adamant that the Paragon is “not a shrunken-down Megatron.”
“Megatron is a purpose-built expedition platform, but it’s not the right answer for everyone,” said Keith Panich, founder of Supertramp Campers. “Paragon delivers the standing room, enclosed bathing, and dedicated storage people often look for in vans, while remaining practical for everyday use and built for long-distance travel without asking owners to give up off-road capability or long-term durability.”
The Foundation
The foundation of the Paragon overland rig is a Ford F-350 8-foot bed delete chassis. The truck can be spec’d out however you want. From single cab XLT to crew cab Lariat with all the bells and whistles.
Supertramp worked with Carli Suspension to develop custom-valved shocks for the Paragon. The rig is also equipped with 18-inch Method Wheels and 35-inch Toyo AT3 tires.
Of course, the truck can also be optioned up from there. Think even fancier suspension, bumpers, off-road lighting, a winch, and/or an air compressor.
Paragon Construction
Once the truck is dialed in to your liking, it gets the camper shell, which is mounted with a “torsion-reducing” mounting system that uses the factory Ford frame mounting locations. This setup is said to allow for some independent flex between the truck frame and the habitat, which improves off-road capability and reduces strain on the camper shell when tackling rough terrain.
The camper shell itself is a 1.5-inch composite laminate made in-house in Golden, Colo., through a vacuum infusion process. The interior build-out is also mostly composite, which keeps the weight down and offers a durable and easy-to-clean gel-coat finish.
Access doors throughout the camper are powder-coated black 1/8-inch aluminum — just like on the Supertramp Flagship truck campers.
Camper Layout
Inside the camper, you get more than 120 cubic feet of storage and a 7-foot interior ceiling height. The Mountain bike storage locker, in particular, is a creative use of space.
Also inside this adventure rig is a north/south cali-king bed in the cab-over, galley kitchen, and a rear three-way convertible dinette. A full cab pass-through and a wet bath are optional, and greatly change the interior space of the camper.
Standard Equipment
Supertramp selected proven, serviceable camper components with widespread product support. This includes a Victron Energy electrical system, a Truma Combi heating and hot water system, an Isotherm 130L 12V fridge/freezer, a portable cassette toilet, an induction stove, and a 3,000W inverter.
Heated Battle Born lithium batteries, totaling 270 Ah, are standard. Charging sources include up to 100A DC-to-DC charging, 660 W of roof-mounted solar, and 100A shore power.
Also onboard is a sink, faucet, 10-foot indoor shower hose, a 40-gallon fresh water tank, and a 20-gallon gray water tank. Two Maxxair Deluxe fans and Arctic Tern windows ensure airflow and temperature regulation.
Options
Of course, you can deck out the Paragon with a ton of nice optional upgrades as well. A large cab to camper pass-through is at the top of that list.
Inside you can upgrade to a full wet bath with compost or dry flush toilet, a bigger battery bank, air conditioning, a skylight, a screen door, and bedroom reading lights. Outside, you can add an awning, Starlink, storage box, MOLLE panels, and a kitchen.
Supertramp Paragon Pricing & Availability
While the $189K starting price of the Supertramp Paragon is real money, it is an impressive value compared to other truck campers, campervans, and RVs. Especially so when you look at the high-quality construction and components, and factor in the impressive off-road capability.
Supertramp did let me know that this is introductory pricing on the Paragon, with “pricing expected to increase slightly after launch.”
The Supertramp Campers Paragon offers the life-on-the-road features van lifers expect, while also delivering the serviceability, durability, and off-road capability of a one-ton Ford truck, all in an extremely durable package.
The fully finished production model will make its public debut at Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Ariz., March 15-17.
