Last week at CES, Chamelo’s co-founder and CEO, Reid Covington, privately shared with GearJunkie that when he originally envisioned electrochromic eyewear (that could change tint on demand), snow goggles were actually the first product he pictured.

And yet, even though the company’s been around for a couple of years, the brand just now released Aroza, its first set of tint-changing snow goggles.

Some folks may have seen the brand’s lifestyle and sports-minded sunglasses in viral TikTok and YouTube videos, including one showing late-night host Jimmy Fallon and Bad Bunny experiencing color-changing lenses on the Tonight Show.

Chamelo actually produces several styles of sunglasses, which can change tint manually and/or automatically and do (or don’t) play audio. GearJunkie reviewed the brand’s Music Shield Sunglasses in 2024.

As Covington told us, it took a while to make the leap from those lenses to the ones developed for these special electrochromic snow goggles, partially because of their increased curvature and surface area. The result is that these goggles let you quickly cycle through 45%, 28%, and 13% VLT (Visible Light Transmission) levels, just by pressing a button near the bridge of your nose. See it in action below.

In other words, you benefit from a spherical lens design with increased peripheral vision, and you can adjust the tint to adapt to cloudy, mixed, and bright days without having to stop to swap out your lenses. Although, the goggles do feature removable, tool-free lens replacement, so you can change or upgrade in the future, as new options become available.

These highly adaptive goggles offer 100% UVA/UVB protection for your peepers. Double-layer lens design, triple-layer face foam, and an anti-fog coating keep your vision clear, no matter the conditions. Speaking of which, they operate from -30 degrees C to 30 degrees C (-22 degrees F to 86 degrees F). And just a 1-hour charge gives you 50 hours of tint control, about a week of shushing down the slopes.

The Aroza snow goggles weigh 223 g (roughly half a pound) and come with a charging cable and soft cloth pouch. They’re currently available for $399 on Chamelo.com.
