As we brace for more major product guide drops next week, today we’re making the time to look at a recent We Knife Co. announcement, the Fluxor, a large folder with a hyper-modern aesthetic and a high-capability wharncliffe blade.

It’s an interesting but true aspect of the knife world that the wharncliffe blade, a profile associated with the very early days of pocket knife history, fits so seamlessly into the modern, technical school of knife design. Something about its exaggerated, yet clean lines dovetails into the sort of visual priorities that this aesthetic calls for. And given that We is one of the foremost production practitioners of this particular style, it’s no surprising seeing them implement the wharnie on the techy Fluxor.

Its particular interpretation of the wharncliffe is super clean, with a long and gradual drop down to the lowered tip. It’s almost talon like, but without stepping over that line, and its cutting edge measures an impressive 3.98 inches. The M390 blade steel makes sure to imbue that lengthy edge with plenty of horsepower too, as it’s a resilient formula with strong edge retention and high stain resistance – qualities that are important in nearly every cutting role.

The Fluxor’s handle does its part in contributing to the overall look, with sinuous, sculpted titanium scales, subdued millwork on the tapered butt-end, and, in typical We Knife fashion, a sculpted titanium pocket clip – in this case an almost perfectly symmetrical clip, with a rounded silhouette that’s not something we’ve ever seen from the manufacturer before. The Fluxor weighs 4.39 oz.
