An Ohio man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend’s 5-month-old daughter.

A Franklin County Municipal Court judge set 32-year-old Glenn McIntosh’s bond at $2 million during a hearing on Wednesday, Oct. 15, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

According to a Columbus Division of Police press release, medics were called to the 4000 block of Willard Brook Road in Madison Township on Oct. 13 just before 11 a.m. for an infant having difficulty breathing.

The baby girl, later identified by her mother as Ameira Reynolds, was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead at 6:32 p.m., police said.

“During the examination of the infant, doctors found the infant sustained injuries that were not consistent with the information provided to the detectives investigating this incident,” according to the release.

She died from severe blunt force trauma to the head, per Franklin County Municipal Court records, 10WBSN reported.

At the Oct. 15 bond hearing, Assistant Franklin County Prosecutor Shania Goble said McIntosh had been living with Ameira’s mother for three months and was watching the infant while she left the home for about an hour on Oct. 13, per the Dispatch.

McIntosh allegedly left the home immediately after the mother returned, Goble said, per the Dispatch, which is when the infant was reportedly found unresponsive and limp.

During the hearing, a statement from Ameira’s mother was read in court.

“You asked me to trust you and I trusted you with my baby, and you took her from me,” she wrote, according to WSYX. “I don’t deserve to have to bury my 5-month-old baby. I can’t believe I let my guard down and trusted you. You hurt her and let her suffer. A baby, a defenseless baby. How dare you. You are a monster, and you will reap what you sow.”

On GoFundMe, Ameira’s mother wrote: My sweet Angel, Ameira was taken from us way too soon. A mother is never prepared to bury her child please help us bring my baby to Glory. Her big eyes, that beautiful smile and all of our precious memories of her will live on forever.”

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 24, according to Franklin County court records.

McIntosh has yet to enter a plea, and his attorney could not be reached by PEOPLE for comment.
