NEED TO KNOW

  • Kelvin Evans was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 16, in Hapeville, Ga., in connection with the theft of several items from Beyoncé’s choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer Diandre Blue’s rental car
  • Evans allegedly stole a flash drive that contained Beyoncé’s unreleased music, future concert set lists and more from Grant and Blue’s car on Tuesday, July 8
  • He was booked for one count of entering an automobile or other motor vehicle with intent to commit theft or felony, and is being held on a $20,000 bond, per his booking record

The thief who was suspected of breaking into and stealing from Beyoncé’s choreographer’s car has been arrested.

Kelvin Evans was taken into custody on Tuesday, Sept. 16, in Hapeville, Ga., for a parole violation on Aug. 26.

He was booked for one count of entering an automobile or other motor vehicle with intent to commit theft or felony, according to jail records obtained by PEOPLE.

He is suspected of stealing several items — including a flash drive that contained her unreleased music, future concert set lists and more — from choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue’s Jeep Wagoneer on July 8. The car was parked in a garage at the Ayla apartment building ahead of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour performance in Atlanta.

“The hard drives contained water marked music, some unreleased music, footage plans for the show and past and future set list,” the police report previously obtained by PEOPLE read.

Grant and Blue also reported that clothing, designer sunglasses, two suitcases, laptops and a pair of AirPods Max headphones were taken from the car.

The hard drives have not been recovered, investigators told CNN.

Parking garage cameras captured footage of the vehicle used during the theft, which was a 2025 Hyundai Elantra with Georgia plates, according to the incident report, per Atlanta News First. Authorities then called the vehicle’s owner, and she said she rented the car out to help pay her bills.

She said she rented it to her mother that morning, and that her uncle, Kelvin Evans, later called her to come pick him up. Evans allegedly told the vehicle’s owner that he would be using the car for five minutes, but instead took it for 30 minutes before returning it. He said he used it to go to a friend’s house, she alleged, per the outlet.

Upon his return, he allegedly told his niece to meet him at her aunt’s home on Hank Aaron Drive to drop off four black bags inside. The apartment complex’s surveillance footage documented Evans, his niece and a child removing the bags from the car. He then returned the car and placed a bag in the trunk and left on his bicycle, Atlanta News First reported, citing the incident report.
