A dead body was found in an impounded Tesla trunk that is reportedly registered to the musician d4vd, according to an ABC 7’s Eyewitness News report.
PEOPLE can confirm that the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call on Monday, Sept. 8, about a foul odor from what appeared to be human remains coming from a vehicle on the 1000 block of N. Mansfield Avenue before 12:30 p.m.
According to ABC 7’s Eyewitness News, the impounded car had reportedly been at the lot for a few days. Per the outlet, there was no immediate information about the identity of the deceased, though authorities reportedly said that the body was found in the Tesla’s front trunk and had been wrapped inside a bag.
Investigators told the New York Post that the car was reported abandoned in the Hollywood Hills nearly five days ago and was towed to the lot where it was found.
ABC 7’s Eyewitness News confirmed that the 2023 Tesla is registered in Hempstead, Texas to d4vd, 20, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.
PEOPLE has reached out to d4vd’s reps for comment.
d4vd, who earned acclaim (and BMI Pop Awards) for hits like “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” released his debut album Withered in April.
He is currently in the midst of his world tour supporting the project. d4vd is set to perform in Minneapolis on Tuesday, Sept. 9 and is slated to play Los Angeles later this month.

Over the past few days, he has regularly posted on social media.
In a post shared on Sept. 8, he announced the forthcoming release of the deluxe version of Withered.
“Withered Deluxe: Marcescence OUT SEPTEMBER 19TH!!!” he captioned the Instagram post, sharing the album art alongside it.
He added: “every song written exclusively by me on my phone baby, this is a passion project i put together to make sure i didn’t lose the raw emotional weight my music carries and how much it means to u all. Thank you to all the friends who collaborated with me on this everyone ATE THEIR VERSES UP.”

In April, d4vd spoke to PEOPLE about Withered.
“This album’s the first project where I’m putting my own emotions into it, my own thoughts and my own unadulterated feelings,” he said.
Added the musician: “With this project, it is very mature. It feels evolved, and I pray my fans hear that and feel that through the music as well.”
